The short answer: No! If you use our app, the go-e Controller is not necessary.
How does it work without a controller?
The go-e Controller typically measures grid export and grid import directly at the grid connection point to regulate charging. Our app takes a smarter, purely software-based approach:
- Direct data: We retrieve current power values digitally and directly from your PV system or your inverter system.
- Smart processing: Our servers process this data in real time and control the charging session based on the exact PV surplus.
- Flexible control: Your wallbox is then controlled easily via the internet—either via the go-e API or via OCPP.
Which wallboxes are supported?
This works absolutely reliably for all go-e wallboxes from hardware version V2 onwards. This includes:
- All older models (V2 and later)
- The current series (such as the go-e Charger Gemini and Gemini flex)
- The latest models (such as the go-e Charger Gemini 2.0 / go-e Pro)
You save yourself the purchase and installation effort for additional hardware at the electricity meter—our app handles this entirely via software!
