My inverter is not supported β can I still use the app?
Yes. Even if your inverter manufacturer is not listed among the directly supported manufacturers, you can use the app via a manufacturer-independent add-on meter at the electricity meter. This also works for older PV systems without an internet connection or cloud integration.
Universal meters
The following add-on meters measure directly at the electricity meter or main house connection and are compatible with nearly all meters and installations:
- poweropti by powerfox β clip-on reader for modern electricity meters with optical interface
- Shelly Pro 3EM β direct current measurement at the main connection (three-phase)
- Tibber Pulse β clip-on reader for modern electricity meters
Limitation: With this solution, the battery state of charge cannot be read, as this information is only available directly at the inverter or storage system. Surplus charging, dynamic tariffs, and the control of heating elements and heat pumps, however, work without restriction.
Examples of manufacturers not directly supported
The following manufacturers are widely used in the market but are currently not directly integrated. An add-on meter is required for these devices:
KACO (new energy), Kostal (PIKO, PLENTICORE), Delta Electronics, Solplanet (AISWEI), SolarEast, Steca, REFU / REFUsol, Siemens, Bosch Power Tec, Danfoss Solar Inverters, Diehl AKO, ABB / Power One / FIMER, Zeversolar, Power Electronics, AE Solar, Autarco.
This list is not exhaustive. If your manufacturer is listed neither among the supported manufacturers nor here, first check the overview of supported manufacturers in the setup assistant.
Older inverters without an internet connection
Older PV systems without cloud or network connection (e.g. older SMA Sunny Boy, Kostal PIKO without Smart Energy Meter, older Fronius, KACO, or Danfoss devices) can also be connected via the same add-on meters:
- The inverter itself does not need to be internet-capable.
- The add-on meter takes over the measurement of generation and consumption at the house connection.
- Requirement: a modern digital electricity meter (smart meter / mME) with a clip-on reader for the optical interface, or the installation of a Shelly Pro 3EM in the meter cabinet.
- For very old Ferraris meters with a rotating disc, we recommend a Shelly Pro 3EM.
Note
Even if your manufacturer is not currently supported, it may be added in the future. You can find further tips on setup and a comparison of the add-on meters in our helpdesk.
