For each wallbox, you must define the maximum possible charging power.
Once your wallbox reaches the maximum charging current, the charging power will not be increased further. An 11 kW wallbox can charge at a maximum of 16A, while a 22 kW wallbox can charge at 32 A per phase.
Please also check the box if the connected car is a Renault, as these vehicles require at least 8 Amperes.
๐ Charging Current Note
Please ensure that the settings match your car and your wallbox. Control signals that are not accepted by either device can lead to issues with the regulation.
Possible example: Only a few cars can currently charge at more than 16 A. If your car can only charge at 16 A, please do not set a higher charging current on the wallbox, as this will lead to errors in the power calculation.
Setting the Charging Mode
Finally, you must select your preferred charging mode.
-
Low Grid Import: This mode is designed to minimize grid import. If the PV surplus is no longer sufficient, the charging session will be stopped after less than one minute.
- Low Grid Export: In this mode, charging continues using grid power for several minutes during fluctuations in consumption or production before the charging session is stopped. If the surplus increases again, the charging session will resume. This maximizes self-consumption.
To customize our charging regulation to your personal needs, you can adjust the following parameters in the advanced wallbox menu after setting up the wallbox:
Charging Power
Several options are available for controlling the charging power:
- Manually adjust charging power in Amperes
- Schedule (execution of e.g., "On", "Off", "Smart" at a specific time)
- SoC Schedule (switching on and off based on the charge level of your home battery)
- Charging Plan (charge additional kWh by a defined time)
- Price Signal (start the charging session as soon as a price threshold is undercut)
- Boost (charge at maximum power)
Device Name
You can choose any name for your wallbox.
Min-Max Charging Current
Enter the minimum and maximum charging current at which your car should or can charge.
Phases
Here you can set how many phases your car should be charged with. Depending on the vehicle type, charging with 1, 2, or 3 phases is possible. For wallboxes with phase switching, we offer an automatic function that switches between 1 and 3 phases according to the solar yield. Please check in advance whether your car and your wallbox support phase switching. If you use phase switching, the charging session will be stopped before the switch occurs.
Usually, a wallbox is connected with 3 phases. However, for smaller PV systems, it makes sense to charge with only one phase. The lowest charging power with 3 phases and 6 A is approx. 4100 W, while with one phase and 6 A it is only approx. 1400 W.
With 3 phases, charging only starts when at least 4100 W of surplus solar power is available; with one phase, approx. 1400 W is sufficient.
For single-phase charging, you only need to connect your wallbox to one phase or use a single-phase charging cable. If you have a wallbox with phase switching, such as the easee Home or the latest go-e Charger, you do not need this precaution.
Please note that it is not sufficient to select the setting for single-phase charging if the car can charge on 3 phases, the wallbox does not support switching, and it is connected via 3 phases. In that case, it cannot switch to 1 phase.
Charging Mode
You can choose between 3 charging modes.
- Clever Mode: This mode is designed to minimize grid import. In Clever Mode, the charging session is stopped after less than one minute of grid import.
- Casual Mode: "Casual Mode" is designed to maximize self-consumption. Charging continues using grid power for several minutes during fluctuations in consumption or production before the charging session is stopped. If the surplus increases again, the charging session will resume.
- Always Charge: In "Always Charge" mode, the charging session is never stopped and continues at the minimum charging current. This mode is particularly suitable for cars that do not restart the charging session after an interruption.
Switching Delay
The switching delay allows you to set the pause times between 2 switching operations. Hystereses are already integrated into the logic, based on manufacturer specifications and technical feasibility. You can define the minimum runtime and the restart delay yourself.
โ
Automatic Charging
For automatic charging ("Smart"), you can use the slider to set the minimum solar share required to start the charging session. If the solar share is set to 100%, no power will be drawn from the grid during the charging session.
If the solar share is set to 70%, up to 30% of the minimum power will be drawn from the grid or, if available, from your home battery. If your PV surplus increases, the grid share is automatically reduced until no more power is drawn from the grid.
If you operate a home battery that we can display, you can set a minimum SoC that should not be undercut. If the minimum SoC is undercut, the charging session will be terminated, except in "Always Charge" mode, where we will continue the charging session beyond that point.
If smart battery control is activated, charging will also occur automatically below the set minimum SoC, provided the minimum battery charging power is exceeded.
Manual Charging
It is also possible to charge your car manually. You can use this whenever you want to control the charging session yourself. You can simply start and stop the charging power manually; to do this, deactivate the "Smart" mode.
