In today's world, efficient energy use is essential. It becomes particularly interesting when you want to switch on devices, such as an electric auxiliary heater, only when you have surplus energy. This is where classic surplus charging control comes into play.
Let's take an infrared heater with an output of 800 watts as an example. The challenge is to control this heater so that it only runs when there is a PV surplus. You can decide for yourself whether the switch should be illuminated or not – this can be easily configured in the Shelly app.
To integrate this into our app, you must register the switch using the ‘Smart Control’ function and enter the nominal power of 800 watts.
When you set the switch to “Smart” in the device overview, our app takes over the control: The heater switches on as soon as the nominal power of the switch plus the defined grid export buffer in the electricity meter is reached. It switches off automatically when the grid export buffer is no longer met or when power is being imported from the grid.
This smart control helps you not only to save energy costs but also to conserve resources and live more sustainably. A small step toward smart energy usage with a major impact for your home and the environment.
