This guide walks you through setting up your Volkswagen, Škoda, Audi, or CUPRA vehicle for smart charging.
Hybrid vehicles that do not allow for the definition of a charging location are currently not supported!
✅ Prerequisites
- A compatible vehicle from one of the mentioned brands.
- Your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). You can usually find this at the bottom of the windshield on the driver's side or directly in your vehicle app.
- You must be with the vehicle at the intended charging location (e.g., at home).
Supported brands and models
Electric vehicle models with a Connect license for mobile online services built after 2019 (e.g., ID series). These six Volkswagen Group brands are supported:
Volkswagen Passenger Cars (excluding: e-Up!, e-Golf)
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles
Škoda
Seat
Cupra
Audi
Supported markets
European Union, United Kingdom, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.
Step 1: Add vehicle in the app
- Open the app and select "Add device" → "Car".
- Select your specific vehicle brand.
- Enter your VIN.
- The app will now generate an individual code (e.g.,
cpv_a1b2c3). Note this down or keep the app open. (not required for CUPRA vehicles)
Step 2: Save code in the vehicle
Sit in your vehicle and start the infotainment system:
- Navigate to the menu item Charging → Charging locations.
- Select "Add new charging location".
- Select "Use current location".
Enter the code displayed in the app as the name of the charging location exactly as shown:
cpv_ + [Ihre alphanumerischen Zeichen]
-> For CUPRA vehicles, the charging location can be entered without a code
Then click Save.
Step 3: Automatic synchronization
The app will now automatically synchronize with your vehicle in the background. Please note that optimization is only active at this specific charging location.
🏠 Good to know
- Location-based: Smart charging only works at the saved charging location.
- Data connection: If the charging location is deleted in the vehicle, access will be revoked. Control and optimization will no longer be possible.
✅ Done! Your vehicle is now correctly set up and ready for smart charging.

Q: I read that the Volkswagen API was blocked. Can I still add my car?
A: Yes, that is not a problem at all. We use an official Volkswagen API that is not affected by these blocks and remains fully functional. You can add your vehicle as usual and use all features.
