Fox ESS Wallbox

Fox ESS offers a wallbox that is suitable for dynamic PV surplus charging and electricity price-based control.

The Fox ESS wallbox features an OCPP interface, which we use to communicate with your wallbox via the internet.

Attention: The L-series does not support OCPP and therefore cannot be added.

You can determine if your Fox ESS wallbox supports OCPP by checking if...

  • the OCPP menu is unavailable in the FoxESS app; if so, this wallbox is not supported!
  • there is an O in the latter part of the model designation: Example: "A011KP1-E-2-WO"

O stands for OCPP
G stands for 4G
W stands for WIFI

Preparation

To connect the wallbox to our system, you must activate the wallbox's OCPP backend.

Before starting the setup, you must connect your wallbox to the internet via Wi-Fi and install the latest updates. Testing was performed using software version 1.20.

Access via the Elite Charger App is required to set up the OCPP backend.

Setup

1. Open the Elite Charger App and select the charging station you wish to control. You can also perform charging station updates via this app.

2. Tap the "..." in the top right corner and switch to the "OCPP" menu. Enter the OCPP URL provided in our app during setup. Enter your Charger ID (no spaces allowed). Confirm the entry and continue the setup by tapping the back arrow in the top left corner.

3. Tap the "..." in the top right corner again and switch to the Settings menu. There, you must set the PV linkage mode to "Fast Mode" and select "Controlled Mode" as the charging mode. This ensures that control can be managed via the backend. Charging schedules must not be activated.

4. Restart the wallbox to ensure all settings are applied.

5. The wallbox will appear in our system for selection shortly after the restart, and you can complete the setup.

6. You can now have your wallbox controlled automatically and charge your car with low-cost solar power!

âť—Important Noteâť— The charging session of the wallbox must be initiated using the provided RFID card. This may start the charging session briefly, but our app will automatically pause it if necessary. If you start the charging session via the Elite Charger App, we unfortunately cannot control the charging session. Under some circumstances, the wallbox may appear as offline after setup; please wait a moment or refresh the page to update the status.
